- Lack of diversity: Many people are disappointed in the lack of diversity in the game. While the Harry Potter universe has characters of many different races and backgrounds, the game seems to be mostly white and male.
- J.K. Rowling’s transphobic comments: This is probably the biggest issue that people have with the game. J.K Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter series, has made some pretty hurtful comments about transgender people. This has caused a lot of fans to feel conflicted about supporting the game. This can be seen in multiple tweets from her such as this one:
- 3. Limited character customization: People are also finding the character customization options to be pretty limited. This is a shame, since one of the most fun parts of RPGs is usually creating your own unique character.
- 4. Potential for microtransactions: While we don’t know for sure yet, some people are worried that the game could have a lot of microtransactions in the near future. This could mean that players would have to spend real money in order to get the full experience.
- 5. Reliance on mods: While mods can be a great way to enhance and customize the game, the fact that there is already a significant number of mods available for Hogwarts Legacy can be seen as a negative point. This suggests that the game may have been released with certain features or content missing, forcing players to rely on mods to fill in the gaps. Additionally, the need for mods can create an uneven playing field for players, as those who don’t use mods may be at a disadvantage or miss out on certain experiences. Ideally, a game should offer a complete and satisfying experience without requiring players to turn to mods to make up for missing features or content.
- 6. Disadvantages for PC players: While the game does look pretty good, some people have pointed out that the graphics aren’t as impressive as they could be. Also many PC players experience big fps drops. Another problem with playing on pc is that you cant play the mission “The Haunted Hogsmeade Shop Quest”.
- 7. Repetitive dialogue and gameplay: It’s been noted that certain parts of the game may become repetitive over time, such as hearing the same lines from NPCs every time you enter Hogsmeade or encountering the Floo Flame Lady and hearing the same dialogue repeatedly.
- 8. Lack of LGBTQ+ representation: Many fans are disappointed by the lack of LGBTQ+ representation in the game. Given that the Harry Potter universe has a lot of queer characters, it seems like a missed opportunity.
In conclusion, despite the criticisms mentioned in this article, Hogwarts Legacy is a game that is well worth playing for fans of the Harry Potter franchise. While it may not be perfect, it offers a fun and engaging experience that allows players to fully immerse themselves in the magical world of Hogwarts.
